In Korea where the land available is limited with higher density of population, it is very essential to maximize efficient use of the land./ The scale and shape of the site division does not differ much between advanced nations and Korea, but in advanced nations the front length of the site is narrower, while its inside length is longer. As a result, they secure a wider area for outdoor green zone, while a joint wall is used to maximize use of the land. In short, they adopt a lower but denser development, which is quite different from ours./ The appropriateness of land and site division for independent houses is determined depending on land price and users'' financial ability. The shape of site division is determined with the slenderness ratio (ratio of inside length to front length), in consideration of the living environment and efficient land use./ As a result of analyzing the slenderness of site division and orientational land use, it was found that effectiveness of site division depends much on adjacent road conditions, slenderness ratio and orientation, and particularly that our traditional site division method of /longer front length to the south and shorter inside length is very ineffective. / As a result of analyzing such legal requirements for independent housing sites in the housing site development project as limited building height for sunshine right, limited oblique line of the front lane, offset from nearby sites, etc., to determine a maximum development capacity of land, the following conclusions could be drawn;/ In case of the two-row grid-type inside site, a major site form for the independent house, the range of slenderness ratio for the longer east-west axis is 1.4 ~ 1.5. The larger the inside length of the site is, the efficiency of land use is greater, allowing for a wider outside space in the south-north direction./ In case of a longer south-north axis, the range of slenderness ratio is 0.5 ~ 0.7. In this case, the smaller the inside length
