신화적 사유 속의 모녀관계 : 여성주의 정신분석학을 방법론으로 = Mother-Daughter Relationship in Western Mythologies : Feminism, Psychonalysis and Narratives

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 신화적 사유 속에 표현된 다양한 모녀관계의 유형을 분석함으로써 여성 자기형성의 핵심과정을 밝혀냄에 주력한다. 지난 20여 년간 북미와 유럽 지역의 여성학자들에 의해 지속적으로 진행된 정신분석학 연구는 여성 자아정체감의 중추를 이루는 요소로 모녀관계를 지적한 바 있다. 그러나 가부장 사회 안에서 자기인식을 가능하게 하는 지적 도구는 남성 중심적으로 형성되어 있으며, 지배그룹에 편입되지 않은 성성을 보유하는 어머니와 딸의 관계는 이리가라이의 지적처럼 '지워진 역사'로 자리하고 있다.
본 논문은 먼저 서구사상의 초석으로 기능하는 그리스 신화를 살펴봄으로써 모녀관계가 형성되는 초기 상황을 점검한다. 이어서 크리스천 신화와의 비교분석을 시도하여 모녀관계에 관한 양 문화의 주요한 태도 차이를 살펴본다. 크리스천 신화 속에서 역사적 부재로 환원되었던 모녀관계는 루소를 주축으로 한 계몽사상가들을 통해 문헌적 위상을 회복하게 되지만 그와 동시에 차별적 '성의 정치학'이 모녀관계를 정의하는 공적 담론으로 자리하게 되었음을 밝힌다. 연구의 끝맺음으로, 여성주의 정신분석학의 연구결과물을 적용하여 모녀관계를 향한 여성들의 보편적 소망이 함의하는 내용을 살펴봄으로써 정치적으로 강요된 정체성의 극복과 수정 여부를 진단해 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

When the Mother-Daughter Relationship was brought to attention by scholars during the early 1980s, they all stated that this particular bond constitutes the sources of empowerment for female self and therefore a threat to patriarchal domination. This paper takes the next step and provides the theoretical basis for the process of female self formation through the ethically centered mother-daughter relationship.
Using the latest feminist psychoanalytic theories as a framework. in particular, the relational approaches advanced by research of Stone Center, this paper explores mother and daughter relationship through western mythologies. Viewing mother/daughter relationship in the mythologies is an attempt to locate it in the collective unconscious and therefore separate it from dominant group's ideology. Mother and daughter as female entity haven't been part of patriarchy and the core element of female self formation process is marginalized and deeply altered by sexual politics of male oriented society. The major finding of this paper is that despite the gender politics that fiercely worked to separate daughters from mother, their bond never weakened, but remained as a birthplace of ethical female self.
