가상 공동체 의식이 사이트 충성도에 미치는 영향 : Flow 개념을 중심으로 = (The) Effect of Sense of Virtual Community on Member's Site Loyalty : Using the Flow

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 가상 공동체 구성원들이 가상 공동체에 참여하면서 공동체 의식을 가지게 되고, 그 공동체 의식이 구성원들의 flow 경험에 영향을 미치게 되고, 이러한 구성원들의 flow 경험이 사이트에 대한 충성도를 직접적으로 높이게 될 것이라는 것과 회원 소속감을 높여 사이트에 대한 충성도를 간접적으로 높이게 될 것이라는 전체 연구의 틀을 가지고 진행되었다.
본 연구의 목적은 다음과 같다.
첫째, Hoffman과 Novak(1996)의 flow에 대한 개념적 모형과 Novak, Hoffman과 Yung(1998)의 실증적 모형에서 고려된 변수들이 가상 공동체 의식에 미치는 영향을 고찰해 봄으로써, 가상 공동체 의식과 flow에 대한 이론적 모형의 확장을 시도하는 것이다.
둘째, McMillan et al.(1986)이 제시한 공동체 의식 요인인 상호작용/ 영향(influence), 필요의 통합과 충족(integration and fulfillment of needs), 공유된 감정적 연결(shared emotional connection) 등이 가상 공동체 구성원들의 flow 경험에 미치는 영향을 고찰해 보는 것이다.
셋째, 가상 공동체 구성원들의 flow 경험이 가상 공동체 사이트 충성도에 직접적으로 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가정과 가상 공동체 구성원들의 flow 경험이 구성원들간의 회원 소속감을 강화시켜 이것이 다시 가상 공동체 사이트 충성도에 간접적으로 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가정을 실증적으로 검증해 봄으로써 가상 공동체 운영 및 활성화 방안 등 마케팅적 시사점을 찾아보는 것이다.
연구 결과들을 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 기존의 flow 연구에서 고려되었던 flow 구성요인 중 주의집중과 관여가 공동체 의식 요인에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 주의집중과 상호작용/영향 및 공유된 감정적 연결간의 인과관계는 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났으며, 관여와 상호작용/영향, 필요의 통합과 충족 및 공유된 감정적 연결간의 인과관계도 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다.
둘째, 공동체 의식 요인 중 상호작용/영향 및 공유된 감정적 연결과 구성원들의 flow 경험간의 인과관계는 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났지만, 필요의 통합과 충족과 구성원들의 flow 경험간의 인과관계는 통계적으로 유의하지 않게 나타났다.
셋째, 구성원들의 flow 경험과 회원 소속감 및 사이트 충성도간의 인과관계가 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났으며, 회원 소속감과 사이트 충성도간의 인과관계도 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다.
본 연구의 한계점과 향후 연구 방향을 제시하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 설문 조사의 표본을 하나의 온라인 스키 동호회로 한정하고 분석 수준을 개인으로만 한정하였다는 것이다. 따라서 향후 연구에서는 상이한 다수의 공동체를 대상으로 개인 수준 뿐만 아니라 집단 수준의 분석도 이루어져야 할 것이다.
둘째, 가상 공동체 구성원들이 공동체에 참여할 때 느끼는 다양한 감정을 규명하지 못한 것도 본 연구의 한계점이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 향후 연구에서는 구성원들이 flow를 경험하지 못했을 때 나타나는 반응들도 살펴봐야 할 것이다.
셋째, 본 연구의 한계점은 아니지만 flow는 중독의 개념과 유사한 특성이 있는데, 이에 대한 연구도 필요하다고 생각된다. 따라서 flow가 중독의 일종인지, 아니면 중독과는 다른 특성을 지니고 있는지에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요하다고 하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study that uses the flow concept focused on the effect of sense of community in virtual or online community on members site loyalty. The research framework proposed in this study is that members have sense of community when they join virtual or online community, and this sense of community affect the experience of flow of members, and this experience of flow affect directly members site loyalty, and the membership affect indirectly members site loyalty.
The research outcomes are as follows:
First, Focused attention and involvement that considered in prior flow research affect sense of virtual or online community significantly. The causal relationships between focused attention and influence, shared emotional connections are statistically significant. The causal relationships between involvement and influence, integration fulfillment of needs, shared emotional connections are statistically significant.
Second, The causal relationships between influence, shared emotional connections and the experience of flow are statistically significant. But, the causal relationship between integration fulfillment of needs and the experience of flow is not statistically significant.
Third, The causal relationships between the experience of flow and membership, site loyalties are statistically significant. And the causal relationship between membership and site loyalties is also statistically significant.
The limitations and future research suggestions are as follows:
First, this study limited research sample in an online ski community, and analyzed personal scale. Future studies need to expand research sample to group scale for various virtual or online communities.
Second, the study has not investigated various emotional affections of virtual community members. The flow, which is a core concept of this study, represents psychological satisfaction. But, this study does not cover members other emotional affections. It is necessary to study the various emotional affections of members when they have no experience of flow in future studies.
Third, the concept of flow has a similar characteristic with that of addiction. It is necessary to discriminate the two concepts in future studies.
