리처드 스윈번의 분석신학적 교회론 = Richard Swinburne’s Analytic Theology of the Church

국문 초록 (Abstract)

분석신학이란 분석철학의 스타일, 방법론, 문헌을 활용하여 기독교 신학 및 종교철학의 주제들을 탐구하는 분야로서, 그 시작에 있어서는 보다 일반적 인 종교철학적 문제를 주로 다루었으나 최근에는 전통적인 기독교 교리에까지 그 사유의 주제를 확장시키고 있다. 본 논문은 이렇게 신론, 그리스도론, 구원론 등 여러 기독교 교리를 탐구하는 데 있어 중요한 방법론적 조력 및 내용적 보충 을 제공하고 있는 분석신학적 접근법이 유독 교회론이라는 주제에 있어서는 활용된 사례가 상대적으로 희소하다는 연구사적 공백을 메우고자 시도한다. 이를 위해 분석철학자이며 분석신학자인 리처드 스윈번의 교회론을 사례로 삼아 스윈번이 채택하고 있는 논증의 스타일, 방법론, 문헌을 분석하고 설명하 면서 그 의의와 한계를 살펴본다. 스윈번의 분석신학적 교회론, 그리고 더 나아 가 분석신학적 접근법 일반은 주관주의에 경도된 경향이 있는 현대신학 전반에 필요한 객관적이고 엄밀한 논증 기반의 교리 이해를 제공하고 있음을 밝힌다. 그럼에도 불구하고 스윈번의 교회론이 교리적 주제로서의 교회의 종합적이고 통전적인 측면들을 다루지 못함으로 말미암아 교회의 본질과 의미의 상당 부분 이 다루어지지 않고 있으며 주로 논리적인 논증에만 치우침으로써 그의 교회론 이 제한된 교회론에 머물게 된 것을 비판하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Analytic theology explores various themes in the philosophy of re- ligion and theology using the style, methodology, and literature of an- alytic philosophy. Initially, analytic theology focused on general top- ics in religious philosophy. Over time, it has broadened its scope to include more traditional Christian doctrines, providing valuable meth- odological tools and supplementary content. However, it has often avoided delving deeply into specific doctrinal themes, such as the doctrine of the church. This essay aims to address this gap by examin- ing analytic philosopher and theologian Richard Swinburne’s ana- lytical approach to the doctrine of the church. It analyzes and explains the style, methodology, and literature employed by Swinburne, high- lighting both their contributions and limitations. The essay argues that while Swinburne’s analytical approach to the doctrine of the church, and analytic theology in general, provides a rigorous logical founda- tion for modern theology and understanding Christian doctrines, it al- so leaves out much of the theologically rich content associated with the doctrine of the church. Consequently, despite offering clear logi- cal justifications, Swinburne’s approach may limit a more compre- hensive understanding of the church.
