The purpose of this study was to investigate factors related to caregiving satisfaction of mothers with disabled children.
Research foci were:
1. To find out differences of caregiving satisfaction of mothers with disabled children according to the general background variables
2. To predict the relative influences mother-children relationship, mother's self efficacy & caregiving stress, social support, and marital satisfaction on caregiving satisfaction of mothers with disabled children
The subjects of this study involved total of 129 mothers with disabled children in Chungbuk province(two educare centers for disabled children, a special education facility, a welfare center for the disabled, four inclusive educare centers).
Data were analyzed with frequency, t-test, ANOVA with Duncan post-hoc test, Pearson's correlation, multi-regression analysis using SPSS program.
The results were as follows:
First, statistically significant differences in caregiving satisfaction of mothers with disabled children was found according to the presence of a helping hand with house chores and mother's preceived of their children's handicap.
Second, mother-children relationship, caregiving stress, and social support had impact on caregiving satisfaction of mothers with disabled children with explaining 54.2% of the variance of their caregiving satisfaction. The closer the mother-children relationship, the lower, the degree of caregiving stress, the greater the mothers' percieved support, the higher their caregiving satisfaction.
