The theme of this paper is the life and education of children during the Korean War. Even during war, children’s lives are not simple. In peacetime, children’s lives usually revolve around schools, but the center of children’s lives during the war is not schools. Confused societies and exhaustion were often the scene of their lives. So I can’t talk about the life of a child only in school. To get closer to the full picture of a child’s life, we should consider their lives in more diverse ways. In this paper, children’s lives were divided into four aspects: politics, economy, culture, and education. The meaning of the Korean War in relation to children’s lives are as follows. First, the Korean War was a time when children learned political ideology through their lives. Their experiences vary depending on region and time. However, children in Korea have become angry and aware of the ideology of communism. These experiences continued and strengthened after the war, making them the anti-Communist generation. Second, the Korean War was a time when even children had to engage in economic activities to survive. During this period, elementary schools also had to provide job preparation education. Most of those who spent their childhoods in this period played a role as economic leaders in the period of industrialization, and the experience of economic poverty in their childhood may have been a spiritual driver of industrialization in South Korea. Third, the period of the Korean War was not only economically poor but also culturally poor. The cultural deficiency of childhood led to the industrialization era, leaving them eventually as a generation of cultural deficits. Fourth, The Korean War was a time when children experienced refugee school instead of regular school education. Schooling was the process of making a child a living being for the nation.
