인식적 확실성, 원초 문장, 실험의 비단일성 = Epistemic Certainty, Protocol Sentences, and Disunity of Experiment

국문 초록 (Abstract)

논리 실증주의의 과학관, 즉 원초 문장(protocol sentences)(관찰 문장(observation sentences))과 과학의 단일성(unity of science)에 기초한 과학관이 현대 실험 과학의 성격에 비추어 어떻게 재평가될 수 있느냐를 논의한다. 20세기 전반기에 유행한 논리 실증주의 과학철학에서 과학의 합리성이 어떻게 이해되어 왔는지를 검토할 것이며, 또한 ‘실험 과학’에 기초한 합리성이 어떻게 성립 가능하며 그것이 논리 실증주의적 합리성과는 어떤 차이가 있는지를 보여줄 것이다. 이러한 논의를 통해 언어적 접근 방식에 기초한 과학의 합리성 이해와 ‘도구사용’(instrumentation)에 기초하는 실험에 근거한 과학의 합리성 이해가 어떻게 다른지를 논변한다.
이 논문에서는 20세기 전반기에 유행한 논리 실증주의 과학철학에서 과학의 합리성이 어떻게 이해되어 왔는지를 논의할 것이며, 또한 ‘실험 과학’에 기초한 합리성이 어떻게 성립 가능하며 그것이 논리 실증주의적 합리성과는 어떤 차이가 있는지를 보여줄 것이다. 논리 실증주의의 과학관, 즉 ‘원초 문장’(protocol sentences)(관찰 문장(observation sentences))과 ‘과학의 단일성’(unity of science)에 기초한 과학관이 현대 실험 과학의 성격에 비추어 어떻게 재평가될 수 있느냐를 검토한다. 이러한 논의를 통해 언어적 접근에 방식에 기초한 과학의 합리성 이해와 ‘도구사용’(instrumentation)에 기초하는 실험에 근거한 과학의 합리성 이해가 어떻게 다른지를 논변함으로써 과학에 대한 성찰을 심화할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It is argued that what differences are there between the view of rationality of the logical positivism and that based on modern experimental science. Logical positivists supported their concept of rationality by the notion of protocol sentences and unity of science. However, rationality from the side of experimental science is very far from the concept of rationality by logical positivists. Understanding of rationality from instrumentation sheds several lights on the concept of rationality based on experimentation.
