This study aims to find out supercooling improvement of TMA(Tri-Methyl- Amine, (CH3)3N) 25wt%-water clathrate compound with ethanol(CH₃CH₂OH) such as phase change temperature, supercooling characteristics. For this purpose, ethanol is added as per weight concentration and cooling experiment is performed at -6~-8 ℃, cooling heat source temperature, and it leads the following result. The phase change temperature was average 5.1℃ according to cooling source temperatures in the case in which 0.5wt% of ethanol was added to TMA 25wt%-water clathrate compound. The supercooling degree was average 2.0 2.4 ℃ according to cooling source temperature and it was minimum in the case in which 0.5wt% of ethanol was added and it had the effect of restraining supercooling. This can lead to shorten refrigerator operation time of low temperature latent heat storage system and improve COP of refrigerator and efficiency of overall system. Therefore energy can be saved and efficiency can be improved much more.
