내래이션의 복잡성과 학습자료 제시속도가 모달리티 효과에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

모달리티 효과에 관한 초기 많은 연구에서 시청각적 자료제시가 시각적 자료제시보다 효율적이라는 연구결과들을 보고하고 있다. 하지만, 최근 모달리티 효과가 항상 나타나는 것은 아니며, 특정 교수조건에서만 모달리티 효과가 나타난다는 연구 결과들이 제기되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 모달리티 효과를 제한하는 요인으로 제기되고 있는 내레이션의 복잡성과 학습자료 제시속도가 모달리티 효과에 미치는 영향에 관해 살펴보았다. 연구결과에 의하면 시각적 자료를 이해하기 위해 제시되는 내레이션이 길고 복잡한 경우 일시적 정보효과로 인해 역모달리티 효과가 나타날 것으로 예상되었으나, 역모달리티 효과가 나타나지는 않았다. 또한 학습자료 제시속도를 시스템 혹은 학습자가 조절하는 두 교수조건에서 학습자료 제시양식에 따른 효과 (모달리티 효과 )가 다르게 나타나지는 않았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The modality effect occurs when audio/visual instructions are superior to visual only instructions. The number of Studies that points toweard possoble moderating factors for the modality effect has recently been increasing. This study investigated the influence of two moderating factors, complexity of narration and pacing presentations on the modality effect within a cognitive load theory framework. According to the results, use of lengthy and complex narration did not result in the reverse modality effect although it was expected due to the transient information effect. In addition, the modality effect did not occur in both system-paced and learner-paced instructions, leaving no evidence that the pacing of presentations affected the modality effect.
