New National Galley a Berlin is a building which is constructed with steel and glass properly. This building is not a mere galley but a 'modern architecture' which is constructed by Mies van der Rohe.
Steel as a new material of architecture has demanded not only technical method but architectural form. Mies has studied an architecture of his period with steel and glass as new material.
New National Galley is realized with eight slimed column which supports the roof 64.8m wide without wall. Its type is a new architectural form which Mies completed with steel as a new material.
Mies van der Rohe defined architecture as 'constructional clearness brought to it's correct expression'. 'Modern architecture' that he constructed with new materials and technologies is a concrete realization of his definition to architecture.
