자영업 결정요인 국제 비교 분석 = 산업과 가족구조 효과

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 자영업 진출요인 가운데 근로자가 속한 산업과 가족 내어린 자녀 여부의 역할을 서로 다른 노동환경에 처한 한국과 미국의 경우를 국제 비교한 것이다. 먼저 산업구조가 자영업 진출에 미친 효과를 분석한 결과에 의하면 국내 노동시장의 경우 근로자의 산업이 전체적으로 자영업 진출여부에 큰 영향을 준 것으로 밝혀졌다. 전기ㆍ운수ㆍ통신업, 도소매업, 숙박및 음식점업, 금융ㆍ보험ㆍ임대업 그리고 기타서비스업에서 개인의 자영업진출이 현저히 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이와는 반대로 미국의 경우, 근로자가속한 산업의 경우에 있어서 건설업과 사업서비스업 그리고 기타서비스업을 제외한 나머지 산업에서 자영업 진출확률이 다소 낮은 것으로 나타났다.<br/>
가족구조 효과에 있어서는 국내 근로자와 미국의 경우 모두 7세 이하 어린 자녀가 있는 가구 내 여성의 상대적으로 진출은 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 그 효과는 국내 노동시장에서 상대적으로 큰 것으로 나타났다.연령층을 세분화 해서 비교해 본 결과, 국내 여성의 경우 나이가 증가할수록 임금근로에 비해 자영업에 종사할 확률이 단조 증가하는 것으로 나타나 국내의 경우 여성의 육아의 부담 그리고 재취업 시 정규직 진입이 쉽지 않은 것이 자영업 진출을 증가시키는 것으로 추측된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper empirically focuses on the role of industrial structure and family formation in determining self-employment by comparing two different labor markets such as the Korean and the US. First, the industry affiliation in the sample of Korean workers seem to be important factor for determining whether individuals decide work in the area of self-employment. However, in the US labor market, industrial affiliation does not seem to be an very important aspect of determining self-employment.
Secondly, the family structure related to whether there are young kids whose ages are less than 7 years old is shown to be important factor for determining self-employment both for the Korean and US labor markets. The degree of increasing probability of women’s in the self-employment is somewhat higher in the Korean labor market than in the US labor market. Another interesting observation is that age factor seems to be very differently affecting women’s decisions in the self-employment. For Korean women, as they are becoming older, they are more likely to join the self-employment which is not observed in the US labor market.
