태권도 격파경기의 송판 완파 판정에 대한 문제점과 개선방안 탐색 = A Study on Problems with and Improvement of Judgments over the Complete Smash of a Pine Board in Taekwondo Smash Competitions

The purpose of this study is to propose measures to improve problems with judgments over the complete smash of a pine board in Taekwondo smash competitions. For this purpose, the investigator selected six professionals that would form a small expert group on smash competitions including two smash competition winners, two national athlete-turned instructors, and two standing referees. A semi-structured in-depth interview, a qualitative methodology, was conducted with the participants. The findings led to the following conclusions: first, the participants cited a couple of merits of Taekwondo smash competitions including bonus points for the college entrance exam system, consistent attendance by players amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and development of Taekwondo smash techniques; secondly, they pointed out a couple of problems with judging whether a pine board was completely smashed in Taekwondo smash competitions including distrust in judgment based on different opinions according to different shooting angles, absence of a video replay system, and disadvantages for players using pine boards of different strength levels; and finally, the study proposed a couple of measures to improve the problems with judgments over the complete smash of a pine board in Taekwondo smash competitions including the introduction of a 4K replay system capable of 360-degree shooting for higher judgment accuracy and the establishment of an electronic system to make accurate judgments between success and failure for a complete smash based on electronic plate mitts and pressure sensors. These measures will help Taekwondo smash competitions be included in international games and garner more support from the public as a sport based on the incorporation of state-of-the-art scientific technologies.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 태권도 격파경기의 송판 완파 판정에 따른 개선방안을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 격파대회 우승자 2명과 국가대표 출신 지도자 2명, 상임심판 2명 등 격파 경기의 소규모 전문가 집단이라고 볼 수 있는 전문가 6명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 선정된 연구 참여자들을 대상으로 질적 연구 방법인 반 구조화된 심층면담을 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 태권도 격파 경기의 장점은 대학 입시 제도에 가산점 부여, 코로나19 펜데믹 상황에서 선수들의 꾸준히 출석, 태권도 격파기술 발전으로 나타났다. 둘째, 태권도 격파 경기의 송판 완파판정에 대한 문제점은 영상 촬영 각도에 따른 서로 다른 의견으로 판정에 대한 불신, 영상 리플레이 제도가 도입되지 못한 점, 서로 다른 강도의 송판을 사용하면서 선수들의 불이익이 적용되는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 태권도 격파경기의 송판 완파판정에 대한 개선방안으로 360도 영상 촬영이 가능한 4K 리플레이를 도입하여 판정의 정확성을 높여야 하고, 전자 판미트를 도입하여 압력센서를 통한 완파와 실패를 명확하게 판정 할 수 있도록 전자 시스템이 도입되어야 한다고 언급하였다. 이를 통해 태권도 격파경기가 국제대회로 채택될 수 있을 것이며, 최첨단 과학 기술을 접목하여 더욱 사랑받는 스포츠로 자리매김 할 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.
