『요재지이』속 변신에 내재된 욕망연구 - 인화위물형(人化爲物型) 고사를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 『요재지이』 속 ‘인화위물형(인간이 동물로 변신한)’ 고사를 중심으로 이들이 변신하게 된 동기와 양상을 살펴보고, 이를 기반으로 각 인물이 변신을 통해 추구한 욕망의 성격을 규명하였다. 『요재지이』 중 ‘인화위물형’고사는 「아보(阿寶)」, 「향고(向杲)」 「촉직(促織)」, 「죽청(竹靑)」 네 편인데, 서사의 전개 양상을 분석한 결과, 각 인물의 변신이 모두 변신주체의 내적 결핍과 사회의 억압 기제가 결합하여 발생하였음을 밝혀냈다. 즉, 사회적 억압기제와 변신주체가 지닌 결핍이 특정 동물로의 변신을 추동한 것이다.
동물로의 변신을 추동하는 동기, 내적 결핍, 특정 동물로 변신하는 변신의 방향성, 이 세 가지 요인의 종합 분석을 통해 각 서사 속 인물이 추구하는 욕망의 성격을 다음의 네 가지로 도출하였다. 첫째는 진실한 사랑을 얻으려는 욕망이고, 둘째는 사회적 제약에서 벗어나려는 욕망이며, 셋째는 타자로부터 인정받으려는 욕망이고, 넷째는 현실에서 도피하고자 하는 욕망이다. 인간이 가진 욕망의 층위는 다양하다. 하지만 『요재지이』 속 ‘인화위물형’ 고사의 주인공들의 욕망 중 감각적 욕망은 배제되어 있다. 그들의 욕망은 철저히 그들이 속한 사회와의 관계 속에서 발생하였다. 즉 『요재지이』 속 변신서사의 기저에는 이 이야기를 탄생시킨 사회의 구조적 폭력과 이에 대항하려 한 인간의 욕망이 반영되어 있다고 볼 수 있으며, 이런 관점에서 『요재지이』 변신담에는 환상성과 현실성이 공존한다고 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study aims to analyze the metamorphosis in 『LiaoZhaiZhiYi』 to identify why and how characters are transformed into animals. It also aims to identify the characteristics of the ambitions the subjects of the transformation wanted to achieve through the action.
As the introduction, the first chapter explains the correlations between metamorphosis and human ambitions that can be found from myths and legends to the novels written in the Qing Dynasty.
The second chapter analyzes the following four works; 「ABao」, 「XiangGao」, 「CuZhi」 and 「ZhuQing」 in which main characters (human) transforms into animals. Why the main characters are changed and how it has been happening are analyzed in the second chapter. What lacks inside them and the pressure from the outside combined transformed them into animals in a magical way and helped them to achieve their goals.
The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of the ambitions the main characters want to achieve through transformation based on the analysis in the second chapter. The first ambition was to achieve true love, the second was to break from social constraints and the third was to escape from the reality, the fourth was to desire for recognition.
