The purpose of this study is to find and identify the relationship between youth's sport participation and their sociality development and provide a fundamental information of healthy living for youth and of good guidance to student life for highschool teachers.
To accomplish the purpose, students who go to high schools in Seoul, as of 2006, were selected as subjects. Gender, grade, course, the number of participation and time were determined as background variables, while the frequency and strength of sport participation were independent variables and the supplements of sociality development such as activity, independence, positivity, cooperation, and patience were dependent variables. For the study, t-test and One way Anova were used to find a difference in sociality development by background variables, together with frequency analysis.
Based on the procedure and data analysis described above, following conclusions are
First, regarding the impact of the frequency of sport participation on activity, it is shown a difference in activity by gender and grade.
Second, regarding the impact of the frequency of sport participation on independence, it is shown a difference in independency by gender and grade.
Third, regarding the impact of the frequency of sport participation on positivity, it is shown a difference in independence by gender, without any difference in it by grade.
Fourth, regarding the impact of sport participation on cooperation, it is shown a difference in cooperation by course, the number of sport participation, and participation time.
Fifth, regarding the impact of sport strength on patience, it is shown a difference in patience by course, the number of sport participation, and participation time.
As a result of the study indicates that sport activities have positive impacts on sociality activities in youth, the related issues will be raised accordingly. Further studies will be needed in consideration of some different characteristics displayed in students' sport activities during important growth going to adults.
