국어 학습지의 질 관리를 위한 평가 체제에 관하여 = To Systematize Norms and Methods for Evaluating Self-teaching Workbooks in Korean Language Teaching

국문 초록 (Abstract)

입시 위주 교육이 지속돼 오면서 학습지는 교육 현실에서 무시할 수 없는 영향력을 지니게 되었다. 그러나 그 동안 제도권에서 사교육에 대한 논의를 꺼려 온 관습 때문에, 학습지의 질 향상을 위한 체계적인 관리가 이루어지지 않았다. 이 논문은 사교육이 공교육과 함께 한국 교육의 두 축을 이루고 있는 현실을 인정하고, 사교육의 주요 영역인 학습지를 평가하고 관리할 이론과 방법을 개발한 필요성을 지적하였다. 그리하여 산업 논리에 지배되고 있는 학습지 현상을 바로잡아, 교육 논리가 중심에 선 바람직한 학습지 문화를 발전시킬 것을 제안하였다.
논의를 위해 학습지 평가를 위한 기초 작업으로 학습지의 긍정적 기능과 부정적 기능을 점검하였다. 그 결과 학습지는 공교육이 담당하기 어려운 부분을 해결해 줌으로써 교육의 총체성을 확보하는 데 도움이 되지만, 한편으로 상업성에 휘말려 학교교육을 오도할 가능성도 있는 것으로 판단하였다. 그렇다면 학습지의 질을 관리한 명료한 평가 기준이 필요한데. 그 기준을 크게 형식상의 측면, 내용상의 측면, 체제상의 측면, 운영상의 측면으로 나누어 간략하게 살펴보고, 그 중 내용상의 측면과 체제상의 측면에 관해 자세하게 살펴보았다. 그리고 학습지 평가를 위한 준거로서 이상적인 학습지상을 살펴보고, 학습지 평가를 위한 체계적인 논의를 제안하였다.
이 논문은 학습지라는 대상을 학술 담론의 영역으로 끌어들였다는 데서 의의를 지닌다. 그 동안 몇 편의 논문이 학습지를 점검했지만 대부분 현상을 기술하는 데 그치고, 학습지를 바람직하게 이끄는 전략 마련에는 실패한 감이 있다. 앞으로 국어 학습지에 관한 논의가 심화될 때 포괄적인 교재론의 심화를 기대한 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The self-teaching workbook(學習紙) is a particular phenomenon in korean education. It defined as literal, informal, self-teaching, distributed by period, and not a test but a learning material. It charges important role for korean language teaching. But there are no studies and systems to evaluate and control the self-teaching workbook. So, I argued it needs to study about self-teaching workbook, and to systematize norms and methods for evaluation self-teaching workbook in korean language teaching.
The self-teaching workbook has much merits with the public textbook made by M.O.E. It can realize the wholeness of korean language teaching through many trials to teaching methods. But there are some weak point as breaking the substance of korean language teaching, emphasizing commercial benefits, and limiting korean language abilities to simple knowledges and skills.
To systematize norms and methods for evaluating self-teaching workbooks, I suggested four territories to evaluate by contents, forms, systems, and managements. And go into details by curriculums, unit systems, relations with units, unit syllabuses, subjects, learning activities, references, assessments, etc. And I suggested the ideal model of self-teaching workbook from the standpoints of teacher and scholars, also.
It is worth the extra effort to study the self-teaching workbook, because it charges important role for korean language teaching by actuality. Therefore, we can control, use beneficially, and improve qualities of the self-teaching workbook.
