국악을 연계한 사회과 수업의 효과 분석 = Analysis of Effects of Social Studies Classes Linked with Korean Music

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims at constructing Korean music activities related to the social studies curriculum for 3th grade students in elementary schools, conducting social studies lessons linked with Korean music and then analyzing educational effects of those lessons. The followings are three main subjects for the research inquiry: First, changes in students' interests in social studies lessons through linking them with Korean music. Second, students' understanding of social studies lessons and patterns of participation in those lessons. Third, changes in their understanding of Korean music. For this, social studies lessons lined with 10 Korean music lessons were given for 108 third graders of 'S' elementary school.
The result showed that the social studies lessons linked with Korean music had a meaningful influence on raising the students’ general interests in social studies and they also effectively worked for increasing the students’ understanding of the social studies lessons and the level of the class participation. Additionally, the social studies integrated with the Korean music helped the students change their perception of the Korean music into a more positive direction.
To organize students' experience in a way that they can read culture through Korean music and find it in cultural phenomena ultimately agrees with convergent education. From that aspect, there should be more studies on utilization of Korean music for other lessons. Additionally, efforts should be made to continuously secure the possibility that Korean music will be effectively used for other academic fields through verifying its effects.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 초등학교 3학년 사회과 교육과정을 국악과 연계하여 실행하는 방안을 제시하고, 국악을 연계한 사회과 수업이 지니는 교육적 효과를 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구 문제는 국악을 연계한 사회과 수업을 통한 사회과 수업에 대한 흥미 변화, 사회과 수업에 대한 이해도와 참여도의 양상, 국악에 대한 인식 변화의 세 가지로 설정하였다. 이를 위해 S초등학교의 3학년 학생 총 108명을 대상으로 10차시 분량의 국악을 연계한 사회 수업을 실행하였다. 연구 결과 국악을 연계한 사회과 수업은 학습자들의 사회과에 대한 흥미를 높이는 데 유의미한 영향을 미치고, 사회과 수업의 이해도와 참여도를 높이는 데도 효과적으로 작용하였다. 더불어 국악교육의 측면에서도 ‘국악을 어떻게 바라볼 것인가’의 태도를 긍정적으로 변화시킨 효과를 거둘 수 있었다.
국악을 통해 문화를 읽어 나가고, 문화 현상 속에서 국악을 발견할 수 있도록 학습자들의 경험을 조직하는 것은 궁극적으로 융합교육과 맞닿아 있다. 이런 측면에서 앞으로 타 교과 수업에서의 국악의 활용에 관한 연구가 보다 활발히 전개될 필요가 있다. 또한 그에 대한 효과 검증을 통해 다른 학문 분야에서도 국악이 효과적으로 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 계속적으로 확보해 나가야 할 것이다.
