      Kongzi emphasized virtue of humanity(仁) that “take care of man.” Now love became the subject of chinese philosophy. Mozi divided love into indiscriminate love or universal love(兼愛) and graded love(別愛). Partial love make society result in endless opposition and struggle. But universal love make society overcome disorder and confusion. He insisted that Kongzi’s humanity(仁) based on family bond lead to graded love. Mengzi criticized that Mozi’ universal love bring out the state without father(無父). After the bitter criticism of Mengzi, no one dare to speak the justification of universal love. Through love for everyone, Hong Dae-yong(洪大容, 1731~1783) intended to break taboo of universal love in the later Joseon. Further he asserted equality of Chinese and foreigner, equality of human and things. Prior to Hong Dae-yong, Mengzi adhered to equality of the goodness of human nature(性善) but methodological discrimination of it’s realization. Because he believed the social order that exemplary person(君子) enlighten and control ordinary person(小人). Hong Dae-yong intended to solve the contradiction of Mengzi’ thought. Therefore he can develop the new horizon that overcome the social rank and international degree.
