The purpose of this study is to find the meaning and effect of the
defense exhibition by grasping the impact of the defense exhibition on
participation satisfaction and behavioral intention from the perspective of the
expectancy disconfirmation theory. To achieve this goal, literature review,
prior research, survey, and statistical analysis were conducted.
At the very outset, through a literature review, the relationship between
expectation, perceived performance, and satisfaction, which are components
of the expectancy disconfirmation theory, and between satisfaction and
behavioral intention were confirmed, and through a previous research
survey, the promotion trend of the defense exhibiton was identified from the
various views on the expectancy disconfirmation theory and from the
perspective of participating companies.
The survey for the study was conducted on participating companies with
experience in participating in the defense exhibition held in Korea.
The statistical survey analysis was conducted with path analysis to
identify the influence of expectations, perceived outcomes, participation
satisfaction, and participation satisfaction on behavioral intention based on
the expectancy disconfirmation theory along with confirmatory factor
analysis. The results were as follows. First, there was a statistically significant difference in the establishment of
civilian-military relations and the acquisition of defense information in the
difference between expectations for the defense exhibition and perceived
performance. And overall, the factor of building civil-military relations was
higher than the factor of acquiring defense information. Second, it was
confirmed that expectations for defense exhibitions had a negative effect on
participation satisfaction. Third, it was confirmed that the perceived
performance of the defense industry exhibition had a positive effect on
participation satisfaction. Fourth, it was confirmed that participation
satisfaction had a positive effect on behavioral intention.
The implications derived from the results of this study are as follows.
First, based of the fact that defense companies do not directly experience
products and recognize them based on limited information through indirect
means about weapons or defense industry, the characteristics expected by
the participating companies in the defense industry exhibition were applied
to the expectancy disconfirmation theory to verify the effect on participation
satisfaction.
Second, research on the defense exhibition is centered on B2G, and
organizers and related organizations will effectively establish defense
information or B2G transactions in providing necessary information or
networking to defense companies. And it will help to find ways to continue
developing by utilizing this.
Third, to find out the trends and effects of defense exhibitions as a
marketing tool and increasing understanding of the degree to which
participants consider important, related organizations that will provide
defense industry information and relationship building platforms will be
useful to plan B2G promotion and promotion activities. In addition, it will be
able to provide a wealth of information suitable to the needs of exhibitors,
improve exhibition planning behavior and promote future re-participation
decisions.
