세계화는 국가 번영의 길인가? = Is Globalization the Way to Nation's Prosperity?

국문 초록 (Abstract)

국가 경제의 개방 및 세계 경제의 통합 현상, 즉 세계화가 국가 경제에 미치는 영향을 잘 분석하고 능동적으로 대처하는 국가는 번영을 누릴 수 있다. 세계화 추세에 능동적으로 참여한 국가들은 수동적으로 참여한 국가들 보다 더 빠른 성장을 하였고, 가난을 극복하였다. 세계화가 국내외 소득 격차의 원인이기 보다는, 오히려 이러한 소득 격차는 세계화에 대처하는 국가나 개인의 선택의 결실이라고 볼 수 있다. 그러므로 세계화의 능동적인 참여는 국가나 개인의 번영을 위한 필수적인 선택 일 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper explains the phenomena of globalization--the opening of nation's economy and the closer integration to the world economy--and argues that a country can prosper by understanding the economic impact and consequences of globalization, and by actively participating in the globalization phenomena. Globalization can enrich a nation and the world. Active globalizing nations have grown faster and reduce poverty more compared to passive globalizing nations. Globalization is not the cause of income inequality within and between nations, which globalization is often blamed for. But rather income inequality is the result of those who are actively engaging in globalization and those who are not. Thus, active participation in the globalization phenomena is a choice nations or individuals can make to better themselves.
