The Purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Maccarena dance program in girl's middle school obese student in kumi city, Measurements of body composition(height, weight, obesity index, waist/hip ratio), blood lipid and self-importance were made on 28 active participants and 25 inactive participant. To evaluate the effect of maccarena dance program, pretest and posttest were
measured.
The results are as follows;
Body weight, obesity index and waist/hip ratio in active participants were significantly decresed compared with inactive participants (p=0.0001, p=0.0001, p=0.0178).
Subcutaneous fat thickness of active participants significantly decresed at biceps(p=0.0084), abdomen(p=0.0012), and thigh(p=0.0053) compared with inactive participants. There was no significantly change at triceps(p=0.2282) and suprailiac (p=0.0545).
Total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in active participants were significantly decresed compared with inactive participants(p=0.0002, p=0.0011). There was no significantly differences in triglyceride and HDL-cholesterol between two groups(p=0.6178, p=0.1392). Atherogenic index of active participants was decresed compared with inactive participants.
For self-importance, active participants had a tendency more incresed than inactive participants, there was no significantly difference(p=0.9978).
Finally, these findings suggest that maccarena dance program had a positive effect of body composition and blood lipid in girl's middle school obese students
