소설의 정의에 관한 정신분석학적 연구 시론 = A Psychoanalytic Study on the Definition of Novel

The primary purpose of this thesis is `the literary theorization of psychoanalysis`. For this purpose, psychoanalysis should be beyond the limit as the means that are simply used for analyzing certain factors in the individual work. Accordingly, this thesis will begin by attempting to combine the theory of genre in fiction with psychoanalysis. This is also an attempt to prove that psychoanalysis is already a theory of literature in a deep dimension. On this attemption, I will define a novel newly through the theory of psychoanalysis. In section 1, though there have been numerous efforts to define the genre of novel, I will ascertain that the genre of novel has never define properly so far. Subsequently in section2, I will clarify the `ontogenesis` origin of the genre of novel, I will newly define a novel psychoanalysis. And I will also examine the reason why the concept of `sublimation` is appropriate to the genre of novel especially among every other art genres. According to Sigmund Freud, the very previous stage of art is fantasy or day-dream. The interesting thing is that this day-dream which appears mostly in the neurotics or infants has a narrative. In other words, it has the shape of the pre-novel that has a `story`. Here is the reason why art relates to a novel closely from the view point of psychoanalysis. Freud commented previously the two types of day-dream that especially are showed in infancy and in neurotics. he named the two types of day-dream `family-romance`. M. Robert titled the both of each type of family-romance `enfant trouve`` and `ba^tard`. His oppinion is that the very two types of family-romance is the origin of a novel which is grasped from the viewpoint of ontogenesis. In the last section of this thesis, by comparing G. Lukacs`s definition of a novel with Freud`s, I will demonstrate that the contradiction between these can be settled through psychoanalysis. In Novels, ontogenesis repeats phylogenesis. Or phylogenesis repeats ontogenesis.
