The reason why lifelong education for the elderly population in local communities is important is because most countries around the world are experiencing population aging and population decline as their economic levels improve. This paper aims to discuss the importance of lifelong education for the future development of local communities, specifically focusing on the benefits that actively participating in lifelong education brings to the elderly population. Furthermore, it intends to examine the social advantages that can be derived from this engagement. In conclusion, lifelong education for the elderly can contribute to the development of local communities in various ways, such as through employment, volunteering, protection, civic engagement, and intergenerational activities, by harnessing the expertise and experiences of older individuals. Additionally, it can also extend their period of independent and active living, thereby alleviating the national burden of social support services.
