지방중소도시의 산업구조 특성에 따른 인구와 고용 변화간 인과관계

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Based upon traditional regional economic theories including 'economic base model' and 'Lowry model', this study proposes the hypothesis that the causality between population and employment changes may vary depending upon the industrial structure of cities: Population change may be caused by employment change in the cities specialized In manufacturing industries whereas population change may result in employment change in the cities specialized in retail and consumer service industries. Latent growth model is employed to test the hypothesis using 1999, 2003, 2007 longitudinal data of small and medium-sized cities in Korea. The hypothesis is finally proved to be true by verifying statistical significance of paths between the latent factors i.e. intercepts and slops of population and employment changes.
