외국인 이주자의 생활공간에 관한 연구: 주거·소비·여가공간을 중심으로 = A Study on the Foreign Immigrants’ Life Space: Focusing on the Factors of Dwelling Space, Consumption Space, and Leisure Space

국문 초록 (Abstract)

세계화가 진행되면서 초국적 이주가 활발해지고 국내로 유입되는 외국인 이주자는 급증하고 있다. 이에 따라 외국인 이주자에 대한 다학문적 연구가 진행되고 있지만, 결혼이주자나 이주노동자 등 개별 유형의 일부 적응과정이나 정책에 집중되어 있다. 이들의 국내 적응과정을 면밀히 파악하기 위해서는 사회제도적 측면도 중요하지만 실제로 일상 생활활동이 이루어지는 구체적 공간, 즉 생활공간에 관한 연구의 필요성이 제기된다. 따라서 본 연구는 국내 거주 외국인 이주자들의 적응과 정 파악의 일환으로 일상 생활활동이 이루어지는 주거공간, 소비공간, 여가공간의 구체적 생활공간에 대해 고찰하였다. 또한 각각의 하위 분석요소로 외국인 이주자를 결혼이주자, 이주노동자, 전문직 이주자, 외국인 유학생의 4가지 유형으로 분류하여 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 외국인 이주자의 지역사회 적응과정을 이해하고,
우리사회의 소수 집단으로서 ‘외국인 이주자’집단이 구체적 공간에서 나타내는 특성에 대해 파악하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As globalization progresses and transnational immigration is vigorously made, the number of foreign immigrants is sharply increasing. Subsequently, multi-cultural studies on foreign immigrants are made but they are focusing on
somewhat individual adaptation process or policies for marriage immigrants or immigrant workers. In order to figure out closely their adaptation process in Korea,
studies on the social and institutional aspect are important but there is also a necessity to study on the concrete space where their daily activities are actually made, in other words, a life space.
Hence, this study investigated, as a means to figure out their adaptation process of the foreign immigrants in Korea, on the concrete life space which is a dwelling space, consumption space and leisure space where their daily activities are made.
In addition, for the analysis of each sub-element, foreign immigrants were classified into 4 types; marriage immigrant, immigrant worker, foreign professional
worker and foreign students. Based on this, this study intended to understand the foreign immigrants’ adaptation process to the local community and the characteristics
that they have in the aspect of concrete apace as a ‘foreign immigrants’ group, a minor group in our society.
