청주 플라타너스 가로수길의 초기 조성 과정과 특성적 의미 - 1950~1960년대, 1970년대 - = The Initial Formation Process and Its Characteristic Meaning of Cheongju Platanus Garosu-gil (Avenue) - 1950~1960s, 1970s -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

청주 P-가로수길은 국내의 대표적인 거리 숲으로 인정받고 있지만, 그의 실체는 아직 명확지 않은 부분이 많다. 본 연구는, 산림(숲 자원)의 사회화를 탐구하기 위한 기초연구로서, 청주 P-가로수길의 초기 조성 과정과 그의 특성적 의미를 조사ㆍ검토한 것에 있다. 연구는 관련 자료 조사와 관련인들을 대상으로 한 인터뷰 조사를 통해 이루어졌다.
청주 P-가로수길의 초기 조성 과정을 조사한 결과, 청주 P-가로수길의 조성 시기와 목적, 식재 범위와 형태, 그리고 가로수(길)의 보호 관리 및 육성 정도가 밝혀졌다. 이 부분은, 그간 미진했던 청주 P-가로수길에 대한 실체를 밝힌 것으로, 청주 P-가로수길을 바르게 알리고 정보를 공유하는데, 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.
한편, 초기 조성된 청주 P-가로수길의 특성적 의미를 검토한 결과, 청주 도시 발전 측면에서는, 이때 만들어진 가로수길은 현재의 청주 P-가로수길의 실제 골격을 만든 중요한 사건이자, 충북ㆍ청주가 새롭게 변화ㆍ발전하는 중요한 토대가 되는 것으로 나타난다. 그리고 국내 산림녹화의 발전 측면에서는, 청주 P-가로수길이 해방 이후 추진된 국내 국토 녹화(국토 미화, 가로수)의 원점이자, 국내 녹화의 고난기 및 전환기(1950~1960년대)에 만들어진 대표적인 성공사례가 되는 것으로 나타난다. 또한 청주 P-가로수길은 한 인물을 중심으로 끊임없는 열정과 노력에 의해 만들어진 소중한 결과이고, 청주 P-가로수길은 70년대 이후 다양한 형태의 문화활동이 이루어지고 있다. 따라서 청주 P-가로수길이 현대인들에게 주는 '거리 숲(Street Forest)으로서의 산림휴양적 가치'나 '국가산림문화자산으로의 가치“는 매우 크다고 볼 수 있다. 또한 숲과 함께 살아가는 산림(숲 자원)의 사회화를 연구하는데 중요한 사례가 될 것으로 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Despite its recognition as a premier street forest in Korea, the historical specifics of Cheongju P-Garosu-gil have remained obscured. This study aims to investigate and examine the initial establishment process of Cheongju P-Garosu-gil and its characteristic significance as a foundational research project to explore the socialization of forests (forest resources). The research was conducted through the examination of relevant materials and interviews with relevant individuals.
As a result of investigating the initial development process of Cheongju P-Garosu-gil, the timing and purpose of its establishment, the scope and form of planting, and the extent of its protection, management, and cultivation have been revealed. This clarifies the previously overlooked reality of Cheongju P-Garosu-gil and is expected to aid in accurately promoting the site and sharing relevant information.
Meanwhile, an examination of the characteristic significance of the initially established Cheongju P-Garosu-gil reveals that, in terms of Cheongju’s urban development, the creation of this street was a crucial event that established the actual framework of the current Cheongju P-Garosu-gil and served as an important foundation for the new transformation and development of Chungbuk and Cheongju. Furthermore, in terms of the development of domestic reforestation, Cheongju P-Garosu-gil serves as the starting point for national land greening (land beautification and street trees) promoted after liberation, and is a representative success story created during the turbulent and transitional period of domestic reforestation (1950s–1960s). Additionally, Cheongju P-Garosu-gil is a valuable result created through the ceaseless passion and effort of a single individual, and various forms of cultural activities have been taking place there since the 1970s. Therefore, the “forest recreation value as a Street Forest” and “value as a national forest cultural asset” that Cheongju P-Garosu-gil offers to modern people can be considered significant, and it is judged to serve as an important case study for researching the socialization of forests (forest resources) that coexist with the forest.
