국문 초록 (Abstract)

기업 인수합병은 기업 성장전략의 하나로서 전 세계 모든 국가에서 광범위하게 이루어지고 있으며, 특히 20세기 후반이후 그 성장세가 매우 두드러진다. 기업 인수합병의 목적은 다양하나 그 주된 목적은 규모 및 범위의 경제 실현을 통한 시너지(synergy)의 창출이라 할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 호텔 및 외식기업의 인수합병이 수익성, 효율성, 성장성과 같은 실제 기업의 경영지표에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는지 조사하기 위해 SDC database를 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 분석결과 외식기업의 인수합병은 수익성, 효율성, 성장성과 같은 기업의 경영지표에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 호텔기업의 인수합병은 수익성과 효율성에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으나 성장성에는 오히려 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이는 성공적인 운영을 통해 다른 호텔을 인수한 호텔기업의 경우 인수합병 후 성장속도가 둔화되는 것을 의미하며, 이를 고려한 신중한 인수합병의 설계가 필요함을 시사한다.
