In this paper, the characteristics of AE signal and the state of drilling hole were investigated to seek the relationship between damage of material and AE signal in drilling of carbon fiber epoxy composite material. As a result, the following conclusions can be obtained. It is possible to infer the damage by analyzing the variation of energy and RMS in AE signal. The maximum RMS value of AE signal is increasing proportionally with the increment of feed rate, because of increment of cutting area per revolution, so the increasing plastic deformation of cutting direction causes the epoxy to fracture more easily.
