The purpose of this study is to propose the direction of the framework and curriculum of mechanical department through analysing the relationship and the time difference of learning between mechanical subjects and mathematics in technical high schools. The main results of this study were as follows: (1) In time difference of learning between mechanical subjects and mathematics, there were 4(1) time difference of learning in units of the machine design(prime mover) subject, respectively. (2) Mathematical factors are dealt with in most of the units of machine design(prime mover) subject. The mathematical contents of common mathematics are shown more than in mathematics I by 22(24) items. Mathematical factors are found most frequently, 33.3%(32.3%) of machine elements for power transmission(thermodynamics) in the machine design(prime mover) subject. And there is two items that is beyond the existing mathematical level in machine design subject. (3) Machine design(prime mover) subject had the relationship of 69%(68%) for common mathematics, and 10%(12%) for mathematics I, respectively. The unit of number and formula in common mathematics had the relationship of 41%(21%), and the unit of limit(differential calculus) in mathematics I had the relationship of 7%(4%) with machine design(prime mover) subject, respectively.
