톨러의 표현주의적 세계관 비판으로서의 개작 = An Adaptation as a critique of the expressionistic Weltanschauung - A comparative Study between 〈Hinkemann〉 by Ernst Toller and 〈Der Nusser〉 by Franz Xaver Kroetz -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 독일표현주의 드라마를 대표하는 에른스트 톨러의 『힝케만』과 이 드라마를 개작한 프란츠 크사버 크뢰츠의 『거세된 남자』를 비교분석한다. 이를 바탕으로 크뢰츠가 톨러 작품에 나타난 표현주의적 세계관을 어떤 관점에서, 어떻게 비판하고 어떤 점을 수용하고 있는지를 논의한다. 크뢰츠가 톨러의 드라마를 어떻게 개작했는지를 논의하기 위해, 각각의 작품의 극적 요소들을 분석하여 ‘개작의 전략’을 고찰한다. 본 연구는 톨러의 표현주의적 세계관과 에른스트 톨러의 『힝케만』과 프란츠 크사버 크뢰츠의 『거세된 남자』의 생성과 수용 그리고 줄거리를 간단하게 살펴보고 드라마의 기본요소인 플롯, 인물, 언어, 주제의 관점에서 두 작품의 차이가 무엇인지를 분석하여 톨러의 표현주의적 세계관을 크뢰츠가 어떠한 드라마적 방식으로 반성했는지를 밝힌다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study deals with the comparison of the drama 〈Hinkemann〉 by Ernst Toller and the drama 〈Der Nusser〉 by Franz Xaver Kroetz. The drama 〈Hinkemann〉 portrays the war experience in the First World War of the author and the revolutionary experience after the First World War. The drama 〈Hinkemann〉 reflects on the nihilistic idea that it is impossible for all happy society. The drama 〈Der Nusser〉 by Kroetz distanced itself from the idealistic Weltanschauung by Ernst Toller. Kroetz criticizes the utopian revolutionary view of Toller in his drama.
The drama 〈Hinkemann〉 by Toller and the drama 〈The Nusser〉 by Kroetz has not so much difference. Both dramas present the warfare, which has become impotent through war. The protagonist comes back from the war. He is impotent and unemployed. As an unemployed, he can not entertain his wife. The woman can not suppress her sexual needs. She is alien to the man who is her husband"s friend. The man does everything for his wife. He tolerates contempt for all human beings. But his friends show no solidarity and humanity. Everyone laughed at his impotence. He becomes ridiculous. The woman wants the man out of compassion. The man loses all hope and has no dream. He sees no way out. The woman goes to suicide because the husband resigned to the world.
The plot and the characters of the two dramas are almost the same, but the themes have a big difference. In contrast to the drama 〈Hinkemann〉, the drama 〈Der Nusser〉 by Kroetz is read as a detachment from the discourse of the revolution.
