언론기관의 대학평가 문제점과 개선방안 탐색 -중앙일보의 평가를 중심으로- = How to Improve the University Evaluation by the Press?

The purpose of the study is to examine the current scene of the university evaluation of Press(JoongAng Daily) and how to impove it? The university evaluation of JoongAng Daily introduced in 1994 has exerted positive impacts to Korean universities. On the other hand, some issues and problems of current evaluation have been revealed during the operation of the university evaluation This paper analyzed the characteristics of university evaluations performed by the press. and suggested the problems and directions for development of the evaluation. The evaluation of higher education institutions by mass media should be different form the others by government or councils between universities.
The significance of the evaluation of JoonAng Daily is to offer the proper information and to watch the common good. Instead of developing more complicated and comprehensive items, the press should make criteria more reorganize the process and publication forms of the university evaluation. Also, information from the evaluation should be open the public so educational consumers can evaluate the university's current situation based on actual assessments rather than subjective reputation.
