현대 패션에 나타난 니트문양에 관한 연구 = A Study on The Knit Patterns of Modern Fashion

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this paper is to study the concept and character of knit patterns, categorize their types, and analyze their impact on the knit patterns of modern fashion trend and design, and provide useful informations for future knit pattern designs.
954 pieces of knit pattern of modern fashion were categorized by shape, expression and arrangement of the motif. And each category was further categorized into smaller divisions and also categorized into coloration and embellishment methods. Shape of motif were grouped into traditional, nature and man-made object pattern. Expression of motif were grouped into realistic, stylized and abstract pattern. Arrangement of motif were grouped into all-over, four-way, two-way, one-way, border and spaced pattern. Each categorized item were statistically analyzed for trends and characteristics of knit patterns.
First, by examining modern knitwear patterns, it was found that geometric patterns were commonly found in shapes of motifs, and abstraction was common in terms of expressing motifs, and two-way was common in motif’s arrangement type. Also, hue contrast and brightness contrast was common in color combinations, while beading and printing techniques were used most in embellishment methods. Second, motifs of the modern knit patterns are often complex, and have freely exaggerated arrangement and have abstract shapes. Third, there was increased use of shiny and glossy texture and embellishment methods in the expression of knit patterns since 2009.
Knitwear's stretchy/elastic/flexible characteristic allows cozy fit to its wearer, and is being highlighted as the fashion material of the future. Due to the diversity in yarn, gauge, structure and state-of-the art technology, knitwear can be expressed with a variety of knitting techniques and embellishing methods. Contemporary knitwear shows more growth potential than any other sub-category of fashion, and it is believed that a steady stream of creative and diverse research on pattern development will continue.
