대학 교양 글쓰기 교육에서 수사 구조 이론의 적용 방안 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 수사 구조 이론(Rhetorical Structure Theory)을 활용하여, 현재 대학 교양 교육에서 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있는 글쓰기 교육에서 제한적으로 이루어져 왔던 구조 지도에 보다 쉽고 효율적으로 접근할 수 있는 방법을 모색하는 데 있다.
대학 교양 글쓰기는 크게 내용, 구조, 표현 분야로 나누어 지도되는데, 내용과 표현 분야는 각각의 학문적 전통에서 꾸준히 연구되어 왔으나, 구조 분야에 대한 이론이나 연구는 상대적으로 관심이 적은 상태에서 머물러 왔다.
만과 톰슨(Mann&Thompson, 1988)의 수사 구조 이론은 텍스트의 응집성(coherence)을 명시적으로 나타내는 텍스트 구조 이론으로써, 필자의 의도가 나타나는 핵(nucleus)들이 위성(satellite)과 어떤 의미 관계를 형성하여 전체 텍스트의 수사 구조를 구성하는지 분석하는 데 유용한 장점이 있다.
특히 수사 구조 이론은 텍스트의 의미들을 형식화시킨 이론으로, 텍스트의 의미를 구조화하여 명시적으로 보여줄 수 있으므로, 필자가 텍스트를 생산할 때 의도적으로 내용을 구조화하는 방식, 즉 내용 구조를 글쓰기 교육에 활용할 수 있다.
수사 구조 이론의 중요한 개념인 의미 관계(relations)는 각각의 텍스트 단위들이 필자의 의도에 따라 어떠한 의미 기능을 사용하여 텍스트를 구성하고 있는가를 보여주는 역할을 하며, 도식(schema)은 아무리 복잡한 텍스트라도 텍스트를 구성하고 있는 단위들이 어떻게 텍스트 전체 구조에 관련되는지 쉽고 명확하게 알아볼 수 있도록 기술할 수 있다.
그러므로 수사 구조 분석은 대학생들이 글을 쓸 때 동일한 주제를 전달하거나 효과를 기대하더라도, 필자의 능력이나 대상 독자, 상황 맥락 등에 따라 가장 적합한 의미 관계를 선택하여 텍스트의 구조를 설정하는 책략을 명시적으로 보여줄 수 있다.
본 연구는 대학 교양 글쓰기 수업 시간에 쓰여진 대학생의 설명 텍스트를 총체적 평가를 통해 글쓰기 능력별로 상, 하 그룹으로 분류한 후, 각 그룹의 수사 구조 특성을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 각 그룹별 텍스트에서 사용된 수사 구조 특성을 도출하였다.
그 결과를 먼저 수사 구조의 의미 관계 측면에서 살펴 보면 상, 하 그룹에는 설명 텍스트의 기본적인 의미 관계인 상세화(elaboration)와 연결(joint)이 공통적으로 나타난다. 그러나 상 그룹은 다양한 의미 관계를 활용하여 다채롭고 정제된 텍스트 구조를 보이는 반면, 하 그룹은 특정한 의미 관계만 단순하게 반복해서 사용하는 양상을 보인다.

This study was to utilize the Rhetorical Structure Theory, to find a way to currently be easier and more efficient access to the structural education made up of restrictive in writing education, which accounts for an important part of the University of liberal education have.
University of liberal education Writing is classified into the content, structure, and education sectors represented. Content and presentation areas has been steadily studied in each of the Major. However, theory and research on the structure of the field is lacking.

In particular Rhetorical Structure Theory to the Schematic shows the meaning of the text. It can show explicitly structuring the meaning of the text. Therefore, It is able to take advantage of the ways of contents structure at writing education.
