<오독도기>계통 소리 연구 = A Study on the Odokttogi versions

Odokttogi has long been considered as Jejudo song but in recent years there is a growing consensus that Odokttogi originated from Panyumbul(repertoires) performed by the Sadangpae, the typical wandering performer's group in the past.
This paper explains the origin and evolution of Odokttogi by analyzing some newly available materials such as what is found at lay people's working song as well as existing materials.
The primary findings of my research are that there were two different versions of Sadangpae sori Odokttogi in the 19th century: old and new ones. The former is found in a variety of genres, and shorter and simpler than the latter in terms of tune and text. In this respect, it approximates to the original source of Odokttogi. Meanwhile, the latter on the basis of the former was transformed into a more refined and nicely form, which ended up becoming contemporary Jejudo Odolttogi and Seoul Odolttok.
As Jejudo Odolttogi was accepted and circulated by Gisaengs, its text became inaccurate and its tunes came to feature some exotic elements. And as Seoul Odolttok, the newest version, was influenced by Seodo traditional folk song Niligueulssa-tayung, it developed in a distinctive way.
