정체성 교육의 새로운 접근：서사적 정체성 교육 = New Perspective of Education for Identity：Narrative Identity

This article is to explore the concept of identity and educational direction for identity. First, I examined two models of identity：Traditional view and recent view. The traditional view regards identity as essential, immutable, fixed substance. The recent views of identity, postmoderism and cyberspace, are no longer substance; Fluid, flexible, multiple, decentered, in-process, constructed, reconstructed, and reinterpreted through the relationships between self and others. I explored strength and weakness of the traditional view and the recent view, and proposed the integrated view of identity. Narrative identity is based on the integrated view. Ricoeur considers identity as the dialectic of idem-identity(identity as sameness) and ipse-identity(identity as selfhood). Narrative identity is to construct identity through the stories one tells herself/himself’s life. Identity formation in the integrated view is related to ethical aspect. Therefore, education for narrative identity is useful to moral education. I also proposed the direction of schooling for narrative identity.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 정체성의 개념 및 정체성 교육의 방향을 탐구하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 위해서 본 논문은 우선적으로 정체성의 개념을 전통적 관점과 최근의 관점으로 구분하여 살펴본다. 전통적 관점은 정체성을 본질적이고 불변하며 고정된 실체로 간주한다. 한편 포스트모더니즘, 사이버공간에서의 정체성에 대한 관점은 정체성이 실체가 아니라 유동적이고 다양하고 탈중심적이며, 자아와 타자의 관계를 통해서 구성되고 재구성되며 재해석되는 과정으로 간주한다. 본 논문은 전통적 관점과 최근의 관점의 문제점 및 장점을 지적하면서, 정체성에 대한 통합적 관점을 제안한다. 즉, 전통적 관점은 일관성과 통일을 강조하는 대신에 차이, 타자, 다양성을 배제하는 문제를 낳았고, 최근의 관점은 다양성, 타자, 차이를 강조하는 대신에 통일과 일관성을 배제한다. 그리하여 본 논문은 이 양자의 관점을 조화시킨 통합적 관점을 제안하며, 통합적 관점에 근거한 정체성은 서사적 정체성을 말한다. Ricoeur는 정체성을 동일성으로서의 정체성과 자기성으로서의 정체성간의 변증법으로 고려하고, 삶 이야기를 말함으로써 형성하게 되는 서사적 정체성을 주장한다. 통합적 관점에서의 정체성 형성은 윤리적인 측면을 고려한다. 또한 본 논문은 정체성의 통합적 관점에 근거한 서사적 정체성 교육의 방향을 제안한다.
