한국방문 외국인의 범죄에 대한 두려움에 대한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국을 방문하는 외국인 방문객을 대상으로 설문 조사를 활용하여 그들이 느끼는 한국 방문기간 중의 범죄에 대한 두려움을 실증적으로 조사하고 이를 기반으로 외국인 방문객을 위한 경찰력의 활용에 있어서 효율성을 극대화 할 수 있는 방안의 검토 및 제시를 목적으로 하고 있음. 2013년 경찰청은 외국인 방문객을 전담하는 관광경찰관 제도를 실시하고 있으나, 아직 시작단계이고 개선의 여지가 많음. 제도가 안정적으로 정착하기 위하여는 경찰활동의 소비자라고 할 수 있는 외국인 방문객들이 실질적으로 느끼고 있는 한국 사회에서의 범죄에 대한 두려움을 실증적인 방법을 통하여 조사하고, 이를 바탕으로 현 제도의 문제점을 파악하고 개선하여, 궁극적으로 한국을 방문하는 외국인들이 안전한 환경 속에서 방문일정으로 마치고 돌아갈 수 있는 환경을 조성할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 것이 필요하다.

This study provides tourist perception of fear of crime and knowledge of the tourist police system while visiting Korea in 2016. The current study surveyed 250 foreign tourists during their visit to Korea. In addition, based on the result, the effective usage of the tourist police system would be proposed. It is necessary to understand the foreign tourists' fear of crime and how the foreign tourists feel about the tourist police system in Korea after or while spending their time in Korea. Various tourist-safety measures to enhance visitor safety in Korea are also recommended to the law enforcement and the tourism industry.
