    Ascorbic acid(vitamin C) accelerates wound healing, protects oxidative damage of adipose tissues, involves in collagen production, and inhibit cutaneous melanin synthesis. Thus, it has been used as a component of some cosmetics. But the unstability and poor skin permeability of ascorbic acid make it difficult to applicate as a cosmetic use. In this paper, the characteristics and physiological actions of ascorbic acid were reviewed. Then the problems in application of ascorbic acid as cosmetics and the considerations of the counter-plan were summarized.
