The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the RET and Attributional training program on childrens' test anxiety and attributional style. To accomplish the purpose of this study, the hypothesis of this study were established as follows:
1. The experimental group which was given the RET and Attributional training program will be different from the control group in test anxiety test.
2. The experimental group which was given the RET and Attributional training program will be different from the control group in the attributional style scale.
The subjects of this study were 24 students attending S elementary school in Busan metropolitan city. Those students who wanted to participate the RET and Attributional training program were assigned to either experimental or control group. The subjects of the experimental group consisted of 12 students received training for 10 sessions, while the control group consisted of anther 12 students received no treatment except a series of tests. One of the instruments used in this study was the Test Anxiety Scale. It was administered three times, before, after the training, and 1 month after the training. In addition, Attributional Style Scale were administered before the training, the data were analyzed by t-test, and repeated measures two-way ANOVA with interaction, processed by SPSS WIN 10.0.
The conclusion of this study were as follows:
1. The RET and Attributional training program is effective in reducing test anxiety.
2. In success situation on test, the RET and Attributional training programpeer is effective in modifying attributional style, that is to say, attributing success situation to more ability than effort, task difficulty, luck.
3. In failure situation on test, the RET and Attributional training program effective in altering altributional style, that is to say, attributing failure situation to more effort than ability.
4. The effect of the RET and Attributional training program is continuous one.
