섬김의 리더십으로 조명한 기독교교육의 원리 = Principles of Christian Education as Viewed through Servant Leadership

This study analyzes the principles of Christian education through the concept of servant leadership. Servant leadership research has occupied a central focus in the field of Christian leadership theories. The principles of Christian education as understood by servant leadership are human-centered educational principles reflecting the teachings of God. The object being served are humans who are created in the image of God and thus have to realize their potential in this world including the field of education. The precondition for this educational practice of serving is to learn the servanthood of God who reveals Himself to finite human beings and gives humans redemption through Christ. Therefore, the act of serving in Christian education includes the restoration of humanity, liberation, and the practice of serving participants in the field of education. The restoration of humanity begins with an awareness of God's truth and liberation from the power of sin and death leading to the practice of serving, service that is based on the Gospel message. The principles of Christian education as viewed through servant leadership provide a foundation that enables incarnated relationships between teachers and learners, redemptive curriculum and educational methodologies, and practice in the field of education. This study first examines the origin and history of servant leadership research and the characteristics of servant leadership. Second, the study explores educational insights from servant leadership, by examining the concept of servanthood from the view point of Christian education. Third, the study analyzes the role of servant leadership in Christian education and suggests the principles of Christian education that apply servant leadership to the relationship between teachers and learners, curriculum and teaching and learning methods, and the practice of serving in the field of education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1970년대 AT&T의 CEO 출신인 그린리프(Robert Greenleaf)에 의해 시작된 섬김의 리더십 연구는 지난 40여 년 동안, 리더십 연구자들의 관심의 대상이었다. 이타주의라는 인간중심의 가치를 강조하는 섬김의 리더십으로 조명한 기독교교육의 원리는 하나님의 가르침으로 균형을 잡은 인간중심의 교육원리이다. 섬김의 대상은 하나님의 형상으로 창조되어 잠재력을 발휘하는 사명을 부여받은 사람이며, 섬김의 전제는 하나님과의 관계를 통해 하나님의 마음을 담는 것이다. 그러므로 섬김이란 인간성 회복, 자유, 섬김의 의지로 전개된다. 인간성의 회복은 진리를 깨닫는 데에서 시작하고, 자유함은 죄와 사망의 권세로부터의 해방이라는 복음의 본질에 입각한 인간 존중의 사고를 통해 섬김의 실천으로 이어지는 것이다. 이렇게 섬김의 개념으로 조명한 기독교교육은 인간에게 내재한 잠재력을 실현하도록 성육화된 교수자와 학습자의 관계, 구속적인 맞춤교육, 교육현장에서의 섬김의 실천을 지속하는 원동력이 된다. 섬김의 리더십으로 조명한 기독교교육의 첫 번째 원리는 교수자와 학습자 모두에게 하나님의 형상으로서의 잠재력이 내재되어 있다는 것이며, 이러한 잠재력은 교수자와 학습자의 구속적 관계를 통하여 실현된다. 교수자와 학습자라는 역할이 고정된 것이 아니라 교육의 특별한 상황 속에서 상호작용하며 구현되는 것임을 놓치지 않는다. 이러한 구속적인 섬김의 관계는 학습의 상황을 고려한 상황화된 학습 내지는 맞춤교육과정의 발판이 되며, 다양한 교육현장에서 교육의 주체로서 상호소통하며 섬김을 실현하는 실천으로 연결되는 것이다.
