화이트헤드의 유기체 철학에서 플라톤의 『티마이오스』의 위상-형성적 요소를 중심으로- = Timaeus' Status of Plato in Whitehead's Philosophy of Organism

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this thesis is to explore which place Plato's dialogue, Timaeus, has in Whitehead's philosophy of organism. Whitehead states that his philosophy of organism is rendering Plato's general point of view with the least changes. Especially in this thesis, it is found out that Whitehead's philosophy is related with Timaeus in the formation of the formative elements of cosmos.
Whitehead holds that the cosmology of the seventeenth century emphasized only the efficient cause and therefore has no place for the final cause, so that the image of nature from this have no reality.
About formative elements, Whitehead takes three elements for formation of actual world. That is god, eternal objects, creativity. In analogous way, Plato also take three elements as god, forms, necessity in Timaeus. In spite of the similarity in this point, we find an ontological difference between Whitehead and Plato.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문의 목적은 화이트헤드의 유기체 철학에서 플라톤의 대화편인 『티마이오스』가 어떤 지위를 가지는 지를 탐구하는 것이다. 화이트헤드는 그의 유기체 철학이 플라톤의 관점을 최소한의 변화를 염두에 둔다면, 그것을 수용하는 것으로 말한다. 특히 이 논문에서는 화이트헤드의 철학에서 형성적 요소들이『티마이오스』의 관념에 얼마나 관련성이 있는지를 탐구할 것이다.
화이트헤드는 17세기 우주론이 작용인만을 강조하고 목적인을 등한시 했으며, 자연은 어떤 목적이나 가치도 없는 존재로 보았다. 그러나 이것은 이론적 설명의 방편에 지나지 않는 다는 점을 지적한다. 화이트헤드는 형성적 요소들이 현실 세계를 구성하는 가능태의 역할을 하는 것으로 본다. 즉, 그것은 신, 창조성, 영원한 대상이다. 플라톤에게 그것은 신, 필연성, 형상이다. 이와 같은 유사성에도 불구하고, 양자는 존재론적으로 큰 차이를 갖고 있다.
