국토의 알레고리, 한라산 = Mt. Halla, the Allegory of National Territory - View on ‘Baengnokdam’ of Jung Ji-Yong

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Agreeing to the common notion that the narrative in ‘Baengnokdam’ of Jung, Ji -Yong achieve a special poetic accomplishment, this manuscript tries to add the connection among verse poems and with ‘Dadoheagi’ in which the poet’s experience in Jeju to existing interpretation of ‘Beangnokdam’.
His constant exertions for pros poems is not less than just his experiment about a new form of poem. Rather, considering the fact that like the japanese literary who didn’t want to engage in the war, Jung, Ji-Yong wanted to write his own “poem”, but not pro－war poetry and pro japanese imperialism poetry, it should be deemed as his conscious orientation.
While his other pros poetry in Beangnokdam, the book, usually contains one narration whose direction adopts ‘nature(mauntain)’ as its background, as an abstract image to realize supra-historical themes such as life or death, the poet has a different intention in ‘Beangnokdam’ from the point that it allegorically realizes the territorial context in Joseon, the history. To Jung, Ji-Yong, Jeju is not a original place that represent Joseon, the island is where is surely connected to Joseon penninsula, and a dinghy that calls at the continent, Joseon should not forget.
