There are various assertions related to study methodology, especially as to qualitative and quantitative methods. Two methods often cooperate each other, yet not infrequently fight. Basically they were exclusive to each other, but if we use two methods appropriately, it would be helpful to get more dynamic data and accurate results.
The objectives of this study were to compare these two methodological paradigms in community studies and to present ways towards reciprocal understanding and supplement. To pursue the objectives of this study, related literatures and previous studies were reviewed. Several studies applied both study methods in community studies were specifically referred.
As a result of this study, two methods were compared in 8 categories and suggest the need to employ both methods in community studies.
