The purpose of this study is to examine Jeong Yak Yong`s unique environmental life thought. Jeong Yak Yong thinks that the universe is one, into which everything, including humans and animals, plants and things, the sun and various planets, such as the moon and earth, and even millions of stars, is so organically combined that all of them are closely interacting each other. The universe is, thus, a huge environmental ecosystem. This universal ecosystem is operated by the economy of just the Heavenly King. Jeong Yak Yong regards the universal ecosystem as the home for residence to humans. For Jeong Yak Yong, as the Universe is just the womb of all humans, he argues that humans should become a good steward who takes care of the Universe as well as of Earth. However, Jeong Yak Yong rejects the idea that the universal ecosystem is autonomously working without any intervention by humans. The learned, called Seongin (saints), should establish a set of institutions with which people can lead each of all lives within the universal ecosystem to fulfill its own unique nature. In order to make policies for directing the universal ecosystem to function smoothly, it hence needs a right governance by reformed political leaders who fear the Heavenly King. To put today`s term, new renovative international political forces are capable of making decision proper for the preservation of balance within the universal ecosystem. These new reformed political forces will gain hegemonic power from majority of the people, because of their fairness and taking good care of the universal ecosystem.
