문화콘텐츠의 디지털 스토리텔링을 위한 기호학적 분석모형 구축

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 문화예술 텍스트에 대한 인문학적 분석에서 기호학은 콘텐츠에 담겨있는 내적 구조에 의해서 어떻게 의미가 발생하는가를 추적함과 아울러, 이 의미가 현실의 삶 속에서 각각의 주체(콘텐츠 및 스토리텔링의 소비자)에 의해 수용되고 해독되는 과정과 원리를 해명함에 있어서 그 어떤 학문보다 정교하고 체계적인 이론을 갖추고 있다. 다시 말해 디지털 콘텐츠의 소비자가 향유하는 텍스트의 ‘지금 여기’라는 현장성과 더불어 문자적 서사에서 벗어나 구술적 서사가 강조된 디지털 스토리텔링의 상호작용성(interactivity) 등을 연구함에 있어 기호학은 다양한 방법론을 제공할 수 있다는 것이다.
이 연구는 문화콘텐츠의 도래와 함께 등장한 디지털 스토리텔링을 어떻게 읽어낼 것인가에 대한 의문에서 출발한다. 여기서 우리는 기호학이 서사 연구와 어떻게 연관되었는지를 살펴봄으로써 기호학이 스토리텔링(아날로그 혹은 디지털) 연구의 유효한 분석 틀로 인식될 수 있음을 제안할 것이다. 연구의 효율성을 위해 우리는 소설이나 영화와 같은 아날로그 매체에 담겨진 서사 분석에 적용된 기호학적 개념과 방법론이 다양한 장르의 문화콘텐츠에서 이야기를 담당하는 디지털 스토리텔링의 분석 모형구축에 어떻게 적용될 수 있는지를 제안하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In analyzing the various texts of today's cultural arts, semiotics seeks to uncover the formation of meaning in the internal structure of culture contents as well as elucidate the procedures and principles by which this meaning is accommodated and deciphered by individual subjects (consumers of culture contents and storytelling) in everyday life. As such, semiotics possesses more elaborate and systematic theories than other theoretical approaches. Semiotics can provide various methodologies for studies such as the "here now" locality of the digital contents consumer and the interactivity of digital storytelling which emphasizes the oral narrative in contrast to the literal narrative.
This paper takes departure by asking about the arrival of culture contents and inquiring about how to read or understand digital storytelling. After focusing on the connection between semiotics and the narrative, it suggests semiotics as a useful analytical tool for the study of storytelling, both analog and digital. For effective research, it also suggests ways that semiotic concepts and methodologies used in the narrative analysis of analog mediums such as novels or movies can also be applied to the construction of digital storytelling analysis models for various genres of culture contents.
