The purpose of this study was to examine the predictive validity of life history items. 192 life history items were administrated to 199 employees in 1995 and the job performances of 89 among them were collected in 1998. Eleven items were significantly correlated with the job performance and the predictive validity of empirical keying methods was .49. Four of 25 factors were significantly correlated with the job performance and the predictive validity of factor analytic method was .45. The implications of two predictive validities and the limitations of this research were discussed.
