고리 원자력 발전소 블랙아웃 사고에 대한 매체별 보도 프레임 분석 = A Comparative Analysis of News Frames across Different Media Outlets: News Coverage of the Blackout Accident at the Nuclear Power Plant in Gori

From a media sociology perspective, we explored how news stories are framed across different media outlets regarding the blackout accident at the nuclear power plant in Gori. We also conducted in-depth interviews with journalists in order to examine what factors might determine the frames of news coverage. The findings indicated that news frames and tones are significantly different across the political orientation of news media (conservative; progressive) and the geographic coverage of news media (national; local). As external factors, the government, nuclear agencies, and activist groups seemed to exert a certain amount of influence on news frames. Such external factors, in turn, help journalists determine the ways in which news stories should be framed. Based on a mixed methods research, we rigorously and comprehensively uncovered how news frames are influenced by a number of internal and external factors around media organizations.
