백희가무를 통해 본 고려시대 팔관회의 실상 -팔관회는 불교의례인가?- = A real facts of the Palguan-huae Geremony on the Koryeo Dynasty through as the Baekhee-Gamoo(various stunt-songs and dances)

Palgwan-Hwae Ceremony of Koryeo Dynasty is the magnificent religious celebration which is performed very strictly and regularly rather than any other nation`s ones. Palgwan-Hwae is symbol and representative of Koryeo so it is essential and important to research of Palgwan-Hwae to identify and understand Koryeo`s culture. Among the various thoughts of Palgwane-Hwae, some people clarify that it is one of ceremonies of Buddhism since it is priority to local custom ceremony. However, as Baekhee-Gamoo which is part of the performances of Palgwane-Hwae shows that people pray blessing to gods of mountain, river, sea, it is a superficial knowledge if we think Palgwan-Hwae is connected to Buddhism. The fundamental reason of theses half-learned thoughts is we do not understand a right concept of Baekhee-Gamoo well. The writer proves Baekhee-Gamoo`s a real concept with thee aspects. Firstly, Baekhee-Gamoo is a main rite of Palgwan-Hwae and secondly, it is based upon Shilla`s Sun-Poong. Lastly, it was prohibited by Sung King as it is regarded as miscellaneous arts. Also, Sasun-Akboo, a core performance of Baekhee-Gamoo, plays ceremony to pray nation`s well-being to gods through song and dances that are related to feature of Poong-Ryu-Do which is spirit of people who is called Hwa-Rang. Can you still say it is Buddhist Ceremony?
