Korea emphasizes the importance of software education through changes in the 2015 revised curriculum. This study was designed to analyze the questions of the information department from 2017 to 2020 and the questions of the competitive examination for the selection of new candidates for secondary school teachers to see if they are suitable for selecting teachers with expertise. It was also intended to examine whether the appointment test reflected what should be carried out at the actual school site through an analysis of the association between general high school and specialized high school curriculum and the employment test in the institution that trains teachers.
The methods of study are as follows.
First, according to an analysis of the questions of the 2017-2020 recruitment exam, the appointment tests that satisfies the criteria for the ratio of the employment test proposed by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation is 2017, 2019, and 2020 and the appointment tests that does not meet the criteria is 2018.
Second, the association between the curriculum of teachers' training institutions and appointment tests was analyzed.
Third, the link between the curriculum of general high schools and the appointment tests was analyzed.
Fourth, the link between the curriculum of specialized high schools and the appointment tests was analyzed.
The results of the study are as follows:
First, according to an analysis of the questions of the 2017-2020, the appointment tests that satisfies the criteria for the ratio of the appointment tests proposed by the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation is 2017, 2019, and 2020 and the appointment tests that do not meet the criteria is 2018. In addition, only information and communication ethics subjects for the 2018 school year were reflected. In the case of discrete structure, software engineering, artificial intelligence, system analysis and design, and system programming subjects, it can be seen that they were not reflected from the 2018 school year to the 2020 school year appointment tests.
Second, computer education subjects in the department of education in the past four years have the highest percentage of questions every year. In the case of curriculum, database and operating system subjects are presented at a high rate of three questions each year. Subsequently, the questions are presented at a high rate of two to three questions in data structure and computer network subjects. For computer programming subjects, fewer questions are asked. In addition, for computer structure, logic circuit, and algorithm subjects, one~two question was given for information and communication ethics subjects in 2018. For programming linguistics, discrete structures, software engineering artificial intelligence, system analysis and design, and system programming subjects, no questions were given.
Third, two out of eight universities were found to have opened all the subjects for the appointment tests, while one out of four graduate schools for education.
Fourth, the questions of the appointment test were compared and analyzed with the 2015 curriculum. Except for one question in the information culture, data and information field of the 2018~2020 academic year, not a single question was asked.
Fifth, the questions of the appointment tests were compared and analyzed with the basic subjects of the specialized subjects. If you look at each of the basic subjects, it looks like most of the subjects are questions, but if you look at the details, you can see that only certain parts are questions.
In this study, the research was conducted on the basis of the basic subjects and classification of 'informatics and computer teacher qualification criteria and assessment areas and assessment contents elements'. In the future, studies should be conducted with more detailed criteria, including sub-domain. In addition, in order to select teachers with the necessary expertise in software education, not just the level of knowledge, it is necessary to improve the questions of appointment tests, and various studies should be conducted for this purpose.
