국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 후기 낭만주의 작곡가 라이네케(Carl Reinecke, 1824-1910)의 작품 중 Flute Sonata op.167 "Undine"를 분석 연구하였다.
물의 정령이라는 뜻의 부제를 가진 “Undine"는 독일의 문학가 푸케(Friedrich de la Motte-Fouque, 1777-1834)가 1811년에 발표한 창작동화소설에서 시작되었다.
물의 정령인 운디네가 인간세계로 나와 한 남자와의 사랑으로 인하여 영혼을 얻게 되나 자신의 목숨을 바쳐 사랑한 남자에게 버림받게 되자 결국 배신한 연인의 영혼을 빼앗고 다시 물로 돌아간다는 아름답고도 슬픈 사랑이야기이다.
문학 이외의 여러 분야에서 사랑받으며 각색된 여러 작품 중 『Undine』의 계보를 이을만한 기악작품으로는 라이네케의 Flute Sonata Op.167 "Undine"가 있다.
본 논문에서는 Flute Sonata Op.167 "Undine"의 표제에 대한 이해를 위해 먼저 낭만주의 시대의 표제음악의 개념과 표제 음악적 경향에 대해 알아보고, 라이네케의 생애와 작품, 악곡의 문학적 배경과 음악적 배경을 알아봄으로 소설의 내용뿐만 아니라 소설과 라이네케의 "Undine"와의 연관성을 알아보았다. 그리고 "Undine"를 통해서 형식, 주제, 화성, 선율, 대위적 기법에 대해 알아보고, 소설과의 연관성에 중심을 두고 이야기의 흐름과 악곡의 흐름을 비교하여 이 곡을 분석 연구하였다.

This thesis examines the German composer, Carl Reinecke's Flute Sonata Op. 167 "Undine" that is composed during his late romanticism period. This work is based on a story from the novel, 'Baron de la motte' of Fouque, the German writer, and it is subtitled as 'Water Spirit'.
The story is about the female water spirit, Undine, who could acquire a soul by marrying a human being. However, her lover turned unfaithful and she took her lover's soul away and had to return to the sea.
The Flute Sonata Op. 167 "Undine" is one of the greatest program music in the Romantic music period of 19th Century, which is intended to represent the scene or mood of a story through instrumental music expression.
The thesis explores the concept and movement of the program music in order to understand the form of the music observed in the Flute Sonata Op. 167 "Undine". Then, it discovers the Reinecke's life and work trend, the literary and musical background of the Sonata in order to find the relationship between the Fouque's literature and the Reinecke's Flute Sonata. Moreover, the thesis studies the movement, theme, tonality, melody, and counterpoint technique throughout the Sonata. Finally it compares the flow of musical composition and the flow of the literary narrative shown in this piece of musical work in terms of the close relationship.
