디지털인문학의 제도적 환경에 대한 성찰 = Reflections on the Institutional Environment of Digital Humanities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

디지털인문학은 학제 간 연구로 시작해서 연구와 교육 영역에서 대학 제도와관계를 맺고 있다. 그 복합적 성격으로 인해 용어 사용, 교육기관 설치 분야에서제도 내에서 불안정한 또는 경계적 위치에 있다. 또한 과학기술과 인문학 사이에서 여러 차원의 오해나 배제의 시선도 받는다. 디지털인문학의 제도적 환경은 학제간 연구라는 태생적 속성에서 기인한다. 기존 분과학문과 동일한 완전한 제도화의 길은 오히려 디지털인문학의 의미를 상쇄시키고 존립에도 도움이 되지 않는다. 오히려 디지털인문학은 제도와 비제도의 중간지점에서 다종다양하게 관계맺는 상황을 적극적으로 활용해야 한다. 현재는 장기간의 지난 경험을 종합하고유의미한 연구성과를 통한 자기증명이 필요하다. 나아가 분석도구 활용을 넘어데이터, 플랫폼 등 디지털인문학의 토대를 구축하고 이를 발판으로 지속 발전을성취해야 한다. 이러한 과제를 충실히 수행할 때 디지털인문학은 기존 제도적 환경에서 직면한 난제를 해결하고 새로운 유형을 갖추고 가치를 발산할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Digital humanities began as interdisciplinary research and has established relationships with university institutions in the areas of research and education. Due to its complex nature, it occupies an unstable or liminal position within institutions regarding terminology usage and the establishment of educational organizations. It also faces various dimensions of misunderstanding or exclusionary perspectives from both science/technology and the humanities. The institutional environment of digital humanities stems from its inherent nature as interdisciplinary research. The path of complete institutionalization identical to existing disciplinary studies would rather offset the meaning of digital humanities and does not aid its survival. Rather, digital humanities should actively utilize the situation of forming diverse relationships at the midpoint between institution and non-institution. At present, it is necessary to synthesize long-term past experiences and achieve self-validation through meaningful research outcomes.
Furthermore, beyond utilizing analytical tools, it must build the foundation of digital humanities including data and platforms, and achieve sustainable development based on this foundation. When these tasks are faithfully carried out, digital humanities can resolve the challenges faced in the existing institutional environment, develop new forms, and radiate its value.
