노쇠군 노년기 성인의 우울감 수준과 사회적 존중감의 역할 = The Level of Depression in Frail Older Adults and the Role of Social Respect

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 노쇠군에 속하는 노년기 성인의 우울감과 주관적 건강상태 및 일상생활 돌봄 필요 여부의 관계에서 사회적 존중감의 조절효과를 분석하였다. 2020년 노인실태조사 데이터를 활용하여, 노쇠군에 속하는 노년기 성인 1,430명을 대상으로 중다회귀분석(PROCESS Macro Model 1)을 실시하여 연구 결과를 도출하였다. 연구 결과, 연구 참여자의 건강에 대한 주관적 건강상태 및 일상생활 돌봄 필요 여부 우울감 관계에서 사회적 존중감이 유의한 조절변수로 작용하였다. 특히, 사회적 존중감이 높은 경우, 주관적 건강상태 및 일상생활 돌봄 필요 여부와 우울감 사이 부정적 관계를 완화하는 경향을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 노쇠군 노년기 성인 사회적 존중감을 강화하는 정책 및 사회⸱문화적 분위기 조성의 중요성을 시사하며, 향후 노년기 성인의 사회적 존중감 인식에 대한 연구가 심화되어야 할 필요성을 제기한다.

This study analyzed the moderating effect of perceived social respect for older adults on the relationship between depressive symptoms and two independent variables: self-rated health status and the need for daily living assistance. Using data from the 2020 National Survey of Older Adults in Korea, a multiple regression analysis (PROCESS Macro Model 1) was conducted with a sample of 1,430 frail older adults. The findings revealed that perceived social respect moderated these relationships, with higher levels of respect weakening the negative associations between depressive symptoms and poor self-rated health, as well as the need for daily living assistance. These results highlight the importance of fostering individuals’ perceived social respect to enhance older adults’ quality of life and mitigate the adverse effects of depressive symptoms. The study offers insights for developing policies and socio-cultural initiatives to promote social respect for older adults, serving as a foundation for future research and policy-making.
